All Our Travel Tales & Tips

I recently travelled to Zurich for   an epic autumn trip in Zurich and beyond and had the chance to  fly on Etihad’s Boeing B787 from Kuala Lumpur to Abu Dhabi. With a two-hour transit at Abu Dhabi’s Zayed International (AUH), I had the privilege of experiencing Etihad’s Business Class Lounge – a haven of comfort that set the tone for the next leg of my journey! Upon entering the lounge, I was immediately struck by its sheer size. Spread across three floors, the lounge offers ample space for relaxation, working, and even entertainment. The lounge has a variety of rooms to suit your needs, including a game room, a family room, and a dedicated spa area. The open layout ensures you never feel crowded, no matter how busy the lounge gets. One of the highlights of my time in the lounge was the buffet. The extensive menu offered a mix of international cuisines, from Middle Eastern dishes to Western classics. I indulged in freshly made pastries, savory mains, and a variety of snacks. The beverage options ranged from premium coffee to freshly squeezed juices – everything I need to fuel up before a long flight to Zurich. For travellers looking to refresh before their next flight, the lounge offers shower facilities. I took advantage of the hot shower to freshen up after my first leg of the journey – a much-needed treat before continuing on to Zurich. There’s something undeniably relaxing about being able to shower in a private, well-maintained space, especially before boarding a long-haul flight. What Travelers Need to Know:  For those spending time in Abu Dhabi’s Etihad Business Lounge, here are a few tips to maximize your experience: Game Room : Perfect for unwinding or keeping kids entertained during long layovers. Family Room : A dedicated space for families traveling together, providing comfort for both adults and children. Spa : Don’t miss the opportunity to relax with a massage or simply refresh yourself with a shower. Multiple Seating Areas : Whether you’re looking to work in peace, enjoy a meal, or simply relax, there’s a spot for everyone. Varied Buffet : The food options cater to all tastes, so make sure to try something new! Travel in Comfort with Etihad!  Want to travel in comfort and hassle-free, just like I did? I recently spent five nights in Zurich, which provided the perfect base for exploring the stunning Swiss landscape, allowing us to embark on unforgettable day trips to Bern, Interlaken, Lucerne, and Grindelwald.  On our first day, we took a customised day trip to Bern , where we marveled at the iconic Zytglogge (Clock Tower) and strolled through the UNESCO-listed Old City, soaking in the historic ambiance. We also visited the Bear Park, where we admired the playful bears in a natural setting. Bern During our stay in Zurich, we visited the prestigious Zurich University, where we were thrilled to see Einstein's locker, strolled along the serene shores of Lake Zurich, and wandered through the historic streets of Zurich's old town. Lake Zurich - Zurich Old Town The following day, still armed with our convenient first-class Swiss Travel Pass , we hopped on a train to Mount Rigi. Although the mountain was shrouded in fog, we relished a scenic hike amidst the ethereal atmosphere. Later, we took a leisurely cruise from Vitznau to Lucerne, where we explored the beautiful old town, filled with charming architecture and vibrant culture. Our guest member, Mekyun  The next day took us to the Rapperswil, a town of roses located on the upper end of Lake Zurich  and a lesser-known Bächlihof Jona pumpkin farm, where we engaged in fun activities like chicken slinging and pumpkin carving, immersing ourselves in local traditions. No trip to Switzerland would be complete without indulging in chocolate, so we made sure to visit the Lindt Chocolate Factory, a sweet highlight of our journey. Rapperswil - Bächlihof Jona Pumpkin Farm Our adventure continued with a visit to Interlaken, where we ascended to Mount First, welcoming the first snowflakes of the season—a beautiful precursor to winter. The breathtaking views from the top of Europe were unforgettable, and it was the perfect finale to our trip. After a delightful dinner in Zurich, we bid farewell to our fellow travelers, reflecting on the incredible experiences we shared! Chiva Som - A Wellness Resort I was eager to find out why this place was voted the ‘Best Destination Spa in the World' and won so many other global awards. Think wellness is just about yoga, spa, and massage? Think again! It can be as exciting as outdoor adventures, savoring delicious and healthy food, learning about your body, or simply being present in the moment. And guess what, my Malaysian friends, this world-renowned place is not far from you—it's in Thailand! Credit: Chiva-Som A quick heads up: this place may cost more than your average resort, BUT that hasn’t stopped them from achieving a 70% return rate from customers! So why do they keep coming back? I’ll reveal the secrets and give you a little treat at the end😉. Why Do They Keep Coming Back? Undoubtedly, the food! You can indulge here without guilt because everything is both delicious and healthy. Credit: Chiva-Som All meals are served in small portions, but you can order as much as you like until you’re comfortably satisfied. Credit: Chiva-Som Hummus and muhammara dip with buckwheat cracker Credit: Chiva-Som Egg Benedict (they replace the hash browns with cauliflower for a healthier choice). Credit: Chiva-Som This appetizer is a sweet and sour starter always served before dinner. Credit: Chiva-Som Vegan Cheesecake ❤️ Credit: Chiva-Som Pandanus & Coconut Sorbet, Passion Fruit Sorbet, and Anthocyanin Sorbet The cuisine ranges from Thai to international and even fusion—there’s something for everyone. If you have specific dietary needs due to health conditions, the health consultants here will customise meals just for you. In-House Doctor, Practitioner, and Activity Instructor Yes, they’re all available to give you expert advice from the first day to the last, and most importantly, these consultations are included in the price (unless stated otherwise). The Flow On your first day, you’ll meet your health and wellness advisor in a one-on-one session.  They’ll customise your activities and treatments based on your goals and health conditions. Here’s one of my daily schedules—I was just too curious not to try everything! The Activities & Treatments They offer a pre-planned weekly timetable of activities, with each activity averaging an hour. You pick from their weekly calendar and balance it with the treatments that interest you. There are over 200 treatments to choose from! “Super Stretch” Session: They push you to your limits—it's a bit painful, but my muscles felt like they could bend into a pretzel afterward! Acrylic Painting class Hot stone massage Credit: Chiva-Som Floatation Therapy: Induces a deep state of mental and physical relaxation. Balancing chakras with singing bowls They also encourage digital detox by discouraging phone use in public areas. At first, it was challenging, but soon I appreciated this practice. It helped me fully enjoy every moment, especially during meals, and deepened conversations with my friends. Warmth in Every Little Detail Neck pillows, snacks, and drinks were thoughtfully provided during our journey from the airport to the resort. You’ll fill out a preference form, informing them of your hair type, preferred pillow, type of oil essence, etc., and they’ll tailor everything accordingly. Healthy snacks and drinks are replenished daily in our rooms. Just like a mom who’s always worried you’ll go hungry! My favorite? The chocolate-coated goji berries! I wish they sold them in Malaysia. Every evening, I returned to my room to find a renewed little handcrafted gift on the bed. Each room is equipped with an automated toilet. We were also given a thermos, which you can take home. My friend forgot hers but liked it so much that she asked the hotel to send it to her—and they did, with warm water inside! I wish my future husband was as attentive (just joking). Why the 70% Return Rate? I asked the operations manager what keeps 70% of their customers returning. He said while the food is a big attraction, it’s really the people that make the difference. The staff here are incredibly friendly and attentive. After one of my treatments, the physiotherapist actually reminded me of my next activity—even though I had forgotten my schedule! I was genuinely amazed at how well they remembered not just our names but every detail of our day. Now, you must be wondering about the cost per night—it's RM4000! But wait… don’t click away just yet, because I have good news. Considering the unlimited access to facilities and the multitude of inclusive treatments and activities, the price is justified. And the good news? There is an exclusive offer for you! Now it’s available for as low as RM2000 per night (depending on the season). This unforgettable journey was hosted by Sedunia Travel, and it's one you can enjoy too! Customise the activities to match your preferences, just inform your Sedunia Travel consultant.
