If a traveller were to Google ‘Tribe Cambodia’, they would find Tribe Urban Art Gallery under ‘coffee shop’ category, and rightly so. Yet many visitors who drop by for a cup of freshly brewed espresso stay for Tribe’s impressive collection of contemporary art by established and emerging Khmer artists. Located around the corner from FCC Angkor by Avani , Tribe is on a mission to educate as well as providing a platform for Khmer artists to share their stories with the world. Set in the heart of Kandal Village, the gallery has also been collaborating with global artists such as Pure Evil, Carne Griffiths and Irish street artist Fin DAC – brought over by British art dealers Nat Di Maggio and the late Terry McIlkenny to produce Cambodian-inspired work. One of the most inspiring Cambodian artists represented by Tribe is Kak Sok Phirom. The eldest of 11 siblings, Phirom was born in a refugee camp and worked as a tour guide before finding his true calling. Today he is an established photographer who also runs immersive photography tours and takes time to further explore his passion for both photography and his beloved country by going ‘walkabout’. Phirom’s ability to connect with his surroundings and the people he encounters shines through in his work. A highly successful artist, Phirom was invited to exhibit 15 pieces at 2019 Phnom Penh Photography festival. While we won’t be travelling for the foreseeable future, it’s never too early for your readers to start dreaming about their first trip once international travel is a reality again. Of course, that first trip will have to be a trip of a lifetime and if it’s not on the ‘gram, did it really happen? Undeniably, this generation of travellers curate their itineraries like they do their feed. From stunning nature views to breath-taking architecture — there’s no Instagrammable destination quite like Sydney. You have the sand, surf, city and nature all rolled into one amazing, unforgettable destination. Bookmark these locations for their next visit, they’re going to want to get them all. Bondi Icebergs Sydney is renowned for its incredible ocean pools but none are as iconic as Bondi Icebergs. The 50 metre stretch of turquoise is set against the backdrop of the expansive ocean and crashing waves, and is truly a sight to behold. Whether you’re getting a shot in the water or a bird’s eye view from Icebergs Dining Room and Bar, Bondi Icebergs is arguably the most photogenic pool in the world and worth a visit.  2. Bronte Bath Viewpoint Already captured your iconic Bondi Icebergs shot? Why not do the scenic Bondi to Bronte Walk and get yourself to the Bronte Baths? Nestled between the well-loved Bondi and Coogee beaches in Sydney’s east, Bronte Beach is where the locals go. The hidden gem is a pictorial haven, offering balmy seaside parks for picnics, a crystal-clear aquatic reserve for snorkelling and diving, as well as an ocean pool for protected swimming. Built into the rocky cliffside in 1887, the Bronte Baths can be found at the beach’s southern headland and travellers can access the panoramic viewpoint by heading to the end of the walkway and climbing up the rocks. From the semi-shaded cove, soak in the sweeping views of the bay and the ocean horizon; early birds will be rewarded with a remarkable sunrise.  3. Mrs Macquarie’s Chair  Mrs Macquarie’s Chair has some of the best views of Sydney’s iconic skyline - you’ll be able to get the Sydney Harbour, Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge all in one frame for that money shot. Located east of the Sydney Opera House on the edge of The Royal Botanic Garden Sydney, you can set up picnic rugs alongside the western side of Mrs Macquarie’s Chair and if you’re there at dusk, you’ll have the opportunity to witness the sun setting behind the Sydney Opera House. This is a sight for sore eyes, and one sure to satisfy your followers and get the likes rolling in.  4. Manly Wormhole  One of the city’s best-kept secrets is the Queenscliff Tunnel, also known as the Manly Wormhole. The tunnel is said to have been dug out a century ago by local fishermen as a shortcut between Freshwater Beach and Manly. Follow in the fishermen’s footsteps down the 50-metre long tunnel that burrows straight through the cliff. There will be a few boulders to climb over but the view of the expansive ocean framed beautifully by the opening of the tunnel is truly worth the trip. Budding geologists can also appreciate the rock formations and cross-section of the rock layers along the way. 5. Queen Victoria Building Dating back to 1898, the Queen Victoria Building replaced the original Sydney markets on the site and spans an entire block along George Street. The elaborate Romanesque architecture – with its semi-circular arches, stained glass windows and mighty domes – was planned specifically to employ many out-of-work craftsmen during the recession. Now, these heritage architectural features make the landmark hard to miss as you walk down George Street and its many nooks and crannies provide a magnificent backdrop for that perfect Instagram shot.  6. Wendy’s Secret Garden Wendy Whiteley’s Secret Garden is a popular spot for locals. Nestled in the Lavender Bay Parklands, the garden is a whimsical oasis that allows you to escape the busy city and get a good dose of the best that Mother Nature has to offer. Get lost amongst the towering foliage, lush plantings and meandering paths, while stopping for the occasional artwork and sculpture along the way. The myriad of green tones and pops of colours from the native flowers will have you snapping away.  7. Forgotten Songs, Angel Place An ethereal cluster of over a hundred cages is suspended above Angel Place, a pedestrian lane that runs between George Street and Pitt Street. The creator of this artwork, Michael Thomas Hill, explains how the striking installation explores how Sydney’s fauna has evolved and adapted to co-exist with increased urbanisation. Once you’ve captured your shot, take a second to listen to the bird calls, which change as day shifts to night. 8.  Paddington Reservoir  A short drive from the CBD, the Paddington Reservoir is a heritage-listed public park. Built in the early 1800s, the reservoir was decommissioned in 1914 and has since then been transformed into a Romanesque sunken garden with a lake of contemplation at its centre, a hanging garden canopy around the perimeter and an eastern chamber left empty but for the wall art. The preservation of much of its original architecture – think towering archways, brick and iron structures – make for a rustic Instagrammable spot.   9.  Bare Island, La Perouse One of the many hidden gems in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs, Bare Island is a small atoll that houses a 19th-century fort and old wooden footbridge connecting the island to the mainland. With dreamy coastal views of Botany Bay, this photo spot is the perfect blend of history and nature. Fun fact: the fort features in Mission: Impossible 2 as the hideout of villain Sean Ambrose.     10.  Green Square Library Boasting floor-to-ceiling shelves lined with a multicolour array of books, Green Square Library seems to have been made for the ‘gram. Besides the impressive rainbow book wall, the library also has reading nooks tucked within the bookshelves, as well as 40 skylights to make sure you get all the natural light you need for your shot and your reading! The photogenic library is a short 15 minute train trip from Circular Quay and is a quick escape from the hustle and bustle of the city.  This article was provided by Sydney Tourism PR. When picturing the many leisure activities available to a vacationer on Thailand’s Koh Samui island, painting trash bins rarely, if ever, comes to mind. And yet, this is exactly what the island’s long-time resident Donna Reiss encourages Avani+ Samui Resort’s guests to do to help save the planet. Bubbly and personable, Donna invites the budding artists to her beachfront residence before presenting them with a pot of paint and some brushes. She then kicks off a creative session where an oversized trash bin is given a new lease of life. The process, from start to finish, can take up to 50 hours with Donna providing guidance and sharing her upcycling tips: Donna reuses trash she picks up on her daily beach walks by introducing the discarded objects back into the life cycle. Glowing with a new coat of paint, the bins are distributed through the local hospitality network to public areas and beaches around the island. The goal is to prevent trash from ending up in the ocean, thus helping to preserve marine life and the environment. Donna didn’t start off as a painter, much less an artist, but a few YouTube tutorials was all it took to launch her love affair with storytelling through art. A recurrent theme in her artwork, a colourful mermaid, is often associated with Donna’s personality: full of energy and optimism for her guests and the planet. Visit Donna when it's safe to travel once more and learn more about how you can help mother nature while harnessing your creative. Be sure to share your creations using #AvaniHotels. To book your trip to Koh Samui, check with Sedunia Travel for travel arrangements.

For most travellers, Hua Hin is synonymous with lounging on the beach and nature walks. For those willing to venture farther afield, however, Hua Hin offers a uniquely local experience – a visit to the Baan Sillapin Artists Village. Located just a few minutes’ drive from Avani+ Hua Hin Resort , the art community hosts over 15 studios ranging from woodcarving, clay sculpture, jewellery making and antiques to photography, watercolour, oil paintings and contemporary art. The members of the collective welcome guests with open arms: from the hands-on arts and crafts classes to regular jam sessions to exhibitions and performances – everywhere you go you are treated as a dear friend. The roots of the community go back 20 years to when Chumpol Donsakul, a local patron of the arts, left a plot of land to Arjarn Tawee Ke-sa-ngam, a well-known artist, to be used for the sole purpose of promoting arts. Before long, Arjarn Tawee’s family was joined by 20 other artists and the commune was established. The Artists Village features coffee shops, workshops and studios that also operate as art galleries, with artists showcasing their creative process as well as selling the finished pieces with all proceeds going towards supporting arts in the village. At the workshops, guests can pick an activity that appeals to them most: painting canvas bags, wood box carving, making robots from wood or paper mask; and all ages are welcome. Never one to rest on his laurels, Arjarn Tawee is working on a plan to build Hua Hin’s first contemporary art museum. To learn more about Avani Hotels, visit www.avanihotels.com . With Hari Raya Aidiladha coming up and interstate travel made possible again, going back to our hometown or taking a short blissful holiday with your family and loved ones is something exciting to look forward to. But before you start your journey to Balik Kampung or your much-anticipated road trip, here are a few tips to prepare yourself for a long drive on the road: 1. Maintain your vehicle regularly While regular servicing helps improve your safety and others on the road, it also saves you from preventable excessive repair cost. Therefore, it’s important to send your vehicle in for maintenance based on the stipulated time set by your mechanic. Be sure to maintain these parts of your car to ensure that it is in good condition before going for a long drive. Check both internal and external parts of the engine. Change the battery every 3-5 years and wiper blades every 6-12 months. Inspect vehicle oil and coolant fluids regularly and keep them at optimum levels. Ensure that the cooling system and radiator are regularly cleaned. 2. Check the air pressure in your tyre Always check your vehicle’s tyre pressure before heading out on a long trip or when carrying extra load. Improper inflation pressure on your vehicle’s tyres can be dangerous and may cause tyre damage. Additionally, it will also affect the handling of your vehicle and its fuel efficiency. It’s also good to take a couple of minutes before your trip to thoroughly inspect for any cuts, cracks splits or bruises in the tread and sidewall area of the tyres. Don’t forget to also check your spare tyre (if you don’t have one, this would be a good time to invest in one) and ensure that it’s well-kept and regularly maintained in case you need it. 3. Prepare for a flat tyre. (Just in case) Changing a flat tyre is not as difficult as you think, and it is definitely a skill that every driver should be familiar with. Additionally, it’s always a safe idea to be equipped with a tyre changing tool kit. You wouldn’t want to be stranded on a highway with a flat tyre and no tools. Here are some of the things that should be in your tyre changing tool kit: A spare tyre A jack A wheel wrench with extension bar A locking wheel-nut adapter (if appropriate) A good pair of gloves like the 3M™ Comfort Grip Gloves that offers protection and dexterity. 4. Prevent rust buildup. For a smooth journey, you’d want to ensure your vehicle is working efficiently. Rust buildups can ruin both, the interior and exterior of your car. Significant corrosions in the engine or the brake mechanism for instance, can cause a damaging problem. Although most of us often mistakenly think that rust damages aren’t repairable, it’s actually a myth. Using a product with dehumidification and anti-corrosion properties like the 3M™ Anti-Rust Lubricant AR-100 can help clean, lubricate and protect your car from rust. Additionally, the product’s close to neutral pH level of 7.1 will not damage the metal surfaces in your car. All you have to do is shake it well and spray directly and generously to cover the corroded areas. 5. Drive comfortably. In a tropical country like Malaysia, we experience hot weather all year round. Driving in the heat can be an uncomfortable experience, especially when you are driving a longer distance. Stay cool and comfortable if your journey on the road will be exceeding two hours. Wear loose clothing with a breathable fabric. If you are driving out on a sunny day and are worried about getting a sun burn, protect your arms with 3M™ Cool Arm Sleeves which utilizes aqua-X technology, the world's first cool-to-touch functional fiber. It’s designed to help your arms feel cooler immediately upon wearing it and offers SPF 50+, which protects you from UVB rays. This product also features seamless soft banding which minimizes chafing with skin and prevents it from slipping while providing a comfortable fit. 6. Take frequent breaks. Driving takes a lot of concentration. Being in the car for hours on end can be really tiring so, the best thing to do is to take breaks regularly. Especially if you’re driving alone, it’s advisable to stop for at least 15-20 minutes every couple of hours and stretch your back and legs to avoid your muscles from getting fatigued. A few minutes of light stretching will also make you feel rejuvenated for the journey ahead. Use the break to also refuel with a light snack and beverage, top up your Touch n’ go card, adjust your GPS and run a quick car check to ensure that everything is working smoothly. 7. Watch out for road hazards and drive responsibly. Lastly, keep your eyes peeled and watch out for any road hazards. With access to technology and a powerful satellite system, we are now privy to live traffic and roadblock updates. If the road ahead reports of hazards, wait it out at an R&R rather than being stuck for long hours on the road. Also remember to drive socially by keeping well under the speed limit and following high-way rules so that you and everyone around can have a safe and happy journey. Road trips are always fun but, we also should not forget to stay safe and be prepared on the road. Wishing you a safe journey ahead for your next road trip!

As the world reaches the epitome of the new normal, we learn to adapt although it does seem an unachievable feat when rules and guidelines were put in place. The new normal should not stop one's passion i.e. travels, seeing the world and experiencing new adventures; be it learning about new cultures, experiencing local gastronomic cuisine or through the lens of a local community. These experiences are a life time lesson that enables one to become ‘open minded’ while pursuing this life journey. With the changing landscape of the travel industry, we at Sedunia Travel are evolving our business around the travel trend, now more than ever. Our aim is to bring travellers to the classic yet never out of style Russia; one of the world’s largest country with its beautiful landscape and historical architectural buildings and museums. Sedunia Travel’s 8D7N Splendor of Russia tour package provides hassle-free travel and allows you to visit its top two iconic cities; Moscow and St. Petersburg. You are guaranteed to be awe-inspired when you see original architectures like the Kazan Cathedral, Peter and Paul Fortress, the Winter Palace and the Palace Square to name a few. This package also includes a relaxing cruise by the Neva River and it is an art enthusiast’s paradise; where you will see paintings by Leonardo da Vinci and Raphael of the Renaissance times. Experience Russia’s fastest transportation, the Sapsan train; named after the world’s fastest flying animal, the peregrine falcon. The train transports you from St. Petersburg to Moscow in approximately 4 hours with several train schedules running on a daily. A visit to Russia would not be completed without taking a picture of the four most iconic sites in Moscow; the Kremlin, the Red Square (which houses the remarkably colored St. Basil’s Cathedral – which is made up of nine chapels), the extensive GUM superstore and the Russian State Historical Museum. Stroll through Arbat street, one of the oldest original streets in the Russian capital and embrace the lively local atmosphere. These are just some of the highlights which encapsulate Russia as a country. There is more than meets the eye and you will have to take our word for it and get to planning on your next winter travel! The Federal Agency for Tourism of the Russian Federation is constantly in the know and follows the latest travel advisory from the World Health Organization. During the tours, it is recommended to use a mask, put on gloves, and maintain social distancing. These steps are recommended and adhered by the hotels, transport line as well as places of interest. Temperature checks are done at the entrance of buildings and increases of disinfection in common areas are done on a daily. However, these rules and guidelines are ever-changing based on the situation at hand, therefore, Sedunia Travel always takes proactive steps in order to keep travellers safe and at the same time, feel at ease while traveling. There is no matter time than now to book your travel plans to Russia! Enjoy 30% off from the normal price or upgrade to superior room from standard room for the Winter tour package. New Zealand is long known as a haven for stargazers as much of New Zealand has little to no light pollution and is home to some of the most accessible observatories in the world. From June onwards, the appearance of the Matariki star cluster holds extra significance for the Māori as the star cluster that is one of the closest to earth signifies the end of one year and the beginning of the next. Great Barrier Island by Night by Mark Russell Fall into the magic of clear glittering dark skies, map out constellations and spot a shooting star or two at these best certified International Dark Sky Places in New Zealand. Certified International Dark Sky Places: 1. Aotea (Great Barrier Island), Hauraki Gulf Great Barrier Island by Night by Mark Russell Aotea (meaning white cloud in Māori), also known as Great Barrier, is New Zealand’s sixth-largest island and completely off the grid, with no reticulated electricity supply. Made up of steep forested hills, wetlands and sandy bays, all residents (approximately 1,000 permanent) are responsible for supplying their own power through solar, wind or gas. There are no billboards or streetlights and the complete lack of light pollution makes for a very sparkly stratosphere. As a result, Aotea was the first island in the world, and one of only a few destinations that have been granted Dark Sky Sanctuary status by the International Dark-Sky Association. To be awarded this status, a location must have an “exceptional or distinguished quality of starry nights”. A place of rugged beauty and untouched wilderness, Aotea is one of the most tranquil and unspoilt places in the wider Auckland region. You can reach the island either by ferry or a short 30-minute flight from Auckland, New Zealand’s largest city. 2. Aoraki Mackenzie International Dark Sky Reserve, Canterbury Aoraki Mackenzie International Dark Sky Reserve In 2012, a 4367sq km block of land in the middle of the South Island was designated as the Aoraki Mackenzie International Dark Sky Reserve, formalising restrictions on light pollution that had been in place since the 1980s. This was the first reserve to be awarded gold status, meaning nearly non-existent light pollution. The sheer brightness of the stars, contrasted by the ring of mountains surrounding the Mackenzie Basin, is utterly breath-taking. The outdoor lighting controls have not only helped make the area one of the clearest, darkest and most spectacular places in New Zealand to view the night, but have also helped conserve energy and protect local wildlife. There are a number of ways to take a stargazing tour in the Mackenzie Region and keen stargazers will be able to see amazing constellations that can only be seen in the southern hemisphere, including the Southern Cross, the Magellanic Clouds and the Milky Way. 3. Stewart Island, Southland Stewart Island The clue is in the name: The original Māori name for Stewart Island is “Rakiura”, translating to “glowing skies” in English. Named the world's fifth Dark Sky Sanctuary in January 2019, it is, simply, one of the best places in the world to spot the Aurora Australis, the southern hemisphere equivalent of the famed Northern Lights. Stewart Island’s population is in the vicinity of 400 people, so there’s a refreshing lack of light pollution. Plus, its far-south vantage point means you’ll see celestial features not visible from any other spot in the country. Observation Rock is a viewing platform close to the town centre of Oban. Only a 30-minute walk from the town centre, it is a great place to view the night sky as well as the islands majestic sunrises and sunsets. The view is 270 degrees and the main view is to the south.
